Now...
I am a full-time freelance illustrator, specializing in creating imaginative and beautiful illustrations for children and teens. I have been in the field for nearly 20 years, and love telling stories visually.
In the beginning...
I mostly grew up in Reno Nevada, and like most artist, have been drawing since I was young. I graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca. with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1992, with a concentration in Illustration.
Through the years...
After graduating, I started out as a freelance illustrator for newspapers and magazines. In 1994 I received the “San Diego Press Club” award for best illustration. Soon after, I accepted an in-house job, and started working for Phillips Interactive Media. I created backgrounds for games, and eventually became the Production Designer on an animated interactive game called "Treasures of Oz". After "Treasures of Oz" was completed, I became a mom and decided to work part-time, allowing time to be with my son, in addition to illustrating for companies such as Canon USA, Club Disney, Disney Interactive, Mattel, and Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company.
New work...
Now that my son has grown past the little years, I am once again a full-time illustrator, and have created a new style. Much of my previous work was created digitally, using computer painting programs such as Corel Painter, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Now I prefer to work in traditional watercolor and pencil.
On a personal note...
When I'm not creating art, my greatest pleasures are spent with family and friends enjoying movies, social gatherings, nature, and traveling. I live in Southern California with my husband, son, and our furry friends, a dog named Nikita, and two cats named Lenny Penny and Mr. Moo. I hope you enjoy my work. If you take a moment to look around, I would love a comment or e-mail. You can find more of my current and past work on my blog. Also, see the links tab for Flickr, Facebook, and my floral website. Happy day to you.
